SHAPING LIGHT TO MATCH A FAMOUS PORTRAIT | PORTLAND HEADSHOT PHOTOGRAPHER

Did you know that Photography is 1 part Creative Art and 1 part Science? You have to be able to think creatively and at the same time think of all the mathematical and physicals of light. To some it may naturally happen, and with others it may take some time to make it apart of who they are.

While shooting a portrait with a client, I was found this picture of Jude Law (one of my favorite romantic male leads) We saw this image and I started tearing apart the lighting while on set. I was able to set things up in my Studio to replicate the lighting.  It was not easy, and did take a couple time to think of the many ways the photographer may have used to get the shot. In the end we achieve a reproduction of a fantastic portrait that tells a story that is equal in to what Gabe delivered.

While out yesterday working on a timelapse at Portland Headlight (soon to be seen in a blog) I had a thought that I had to write down; "A picture without a story is simply a book with empty pages that's not worth reading." I made up that quote while going a little mad crazy out in the -10 wind and snow. It makes so much sense to me and hopefully it'll make you think the next time you take pictures with your phone or camera :)
